The Bluest Eye X

The way Maureen is first introduced like... with dialogue reveals that Maureen is a really nice and friendly type of person and is willing to be friends with Freida and Claudia if they open up. It's funny to read about the little things they do to signal each other like when they look at each other when Claudia tells freida Maureen will be walking with them. In a way it seems like they are fake because even though they hate Maureen, they still subconsciously want to be around her.

The Bluest Eye IX

Freida and Claudia are like the typical sisters or sometimes they seem like best friends that stick together; hate on the same things and love the same things. When Maureen is first introduced to the book you can already tell by the tone of the speaker that she is very jealous of the new girl as well as Freida because everyone likes her and they only reason why they both dont like her is maybe partly because one of them doesn't like the way everyone likes her but at the same time I think the main reason why they dont like her is because she is what is known as "pretty" because she has all the traits.

Some parts that I was getting confused about or found myself looking back and changing my mind on things is I guess just who the speaker (claudia) is. Sometimes I feel like i'm on her side in certain situations in the book(example: when the boys were messing with Pecola at school) but some other times, I'm just iffy about her character as well because she seems like the type of girl to just follow what someone else is doing jsut to get into it or just to instigate.

The part where the three whores get introduced in the novel intrigued me for some reason. Is it a bad thing that I'm interested in the lives of whores? but anyway, as I was reading it, it was pretty typical. They are all nice a friendly but they all have messed up lives. Like ever other girl in this time period, their men leave them all the time since they are in fact whores who live a cycled life of going through the same things over and over again with men

The way they talk about Blue Eyes of course has a meaning behind it since it is the title of the book, but I guess just the way the speaker talks about how Pecola wants blue eyes reminds me of when I was younger and if I saw a famous celebrity or a cute cartoon character, I wanted to look exactly like that girl and I guess thats what Pecola is doing when she wants to have blue eyes just to be "pretty"

From page 38-44 , Pecola's family is broken. You can tell by everyones actions towards each other and there's a scene where Cholly and Mrs. Breedlove are fighting and their son Sammy yells "kill him !" This proves that Cholly must have done something horrible to him that he wants him to die or that Cholly is just a horrible father to his children

Cholly and Mrs Breedlove, which are Pecola's parents, are very abusive towards each other. I can tell that the couples during these times probably cheated on each other, the men (husbands) probably usually left the women(their wives) with the kids, or they were always abusive towards each other. Mrs. Breedlove and Cholly dont have a strong or good relationship and they are constantly fighting which shows that Pecola goes through alot at home

The Bluest Eye III

The speaker, Claudia, is not interested in the look of any dolls or what to do with it. She in fact hated dolls unlike the other "common girls"that were her age. I can tell that the speaker Claudia has been where she is at for a while because it seems like shes the one who tells everyone elses stories (ex. Pecola, the three whores, etc)

Hamlet revisions 1

Making revises and making my essay is kind of hard for me for some reason; partly because I can’t exactly explain some situations and why I think Shakespeare does it. I'm going through each of Hamlet's lines and trying to interpret the truth behind the crazy things he’s saying and hopefully getting something logic out of it. I still feel like I'm repetitive with what I'm saying so I'm trying to just put everything similar into one paragraph.

The Bluest Eye II : autumn

In the the chapter,I can tell that the setting is in an area with both black and whites but where the blacks are being oppressed. The scenes are mostly taking place in the speaker, Claudia's house. Her house is very poor and she has to share beds with her siblings Pecola and Freida. Her family is also very strict because since they aren't as fortunate, they have problems about food that gets finished fast(milk), or when one of them become ill since they can't afford to have a child that isn't in good health.

The Bluest Eyes I

Starting out the book, The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morrison, I thought it was interesting in the beggining of the novel when there is a section that was telling a story and introducing the character of Jane, mother, and father. I wasn't sure what it was for but what i noticed was the text began in regular text then when the story was over, it was repeated but the text was a little smaller, then the story repeated again with a smaller text and no spaces. I'm not sure why the author did that but i thought it was interesting.
